A little bit of shopping

Today we spent most of the day at home. I was feeling a bit tired and a little bit homesick earlier...I miss my bed!! Even though we piled up the futons so they're slightly more comfortable, they're definitely not beds!! I just can't sleep on my right side. Only my left side can stand it, strangely enough.

For breakfast I ended up having toast and jam. I say toast, but holy cow! Japanese pieces of breads are huge!! Like twice as thick as a regular piece of bread, and twice as long too. I didn't really like the strawberry jam though. Wasn't quite like the preserves from home, but maybe it'll taste better after it's been in the fridge.

In any case, after a shower I started playing Final Fantasy VI, and then ended up sleeping for about 3 hours. After that, some much needed Japanese studying. I did about 40 minutes of kanji, but I still got  a few more hours worth of kanji to catch up on before I can start tackling new ones again.

Eventually we got hungry and decided we'd go out to the local McDonalds, which is right near the train station. Luckily this time we didn't get lost though! I got chicken nuggets, large fries, and I decided to be adventurous and got a drink called Qoo. It tasted kinda like apple juice.

Well, I had forgotten about my blisters and grabbed the flip flops I've been wearing everyday...they didn't hurt too bad, but I decided I'd take a look inside of the multistory fashion store called BeBe (not like the bebe in the US) to see if I could find some new sandals. Unfortunately, I didn't find any, but I got a few other things instead.
First thing's for sure, I've been wanting a parasol to keep off the sun. I see lots of women walking around with them, and I'm always thinking "They've got the right idea..."
On the topic of sun and heat, I also got myself a towel handkerchief to wipe off sweat with! I saw some cute ones (even Barbie ones), but the Totoro ones were super cheap (only about 200 yen) and this one was just so pretty with the cherry blossoms on them I couldn't resist. Going to wash it tomorrow and use it from now on.
Aaand I also got myself a new wallet. I was a bit confused about the price when I picked this one out versus a much cheaper and smaller one (I thought this one was on sale when I ended up choosing it), but it wasn't. Ah well, I really wanted a new wallet anyway, especially one that has a proper change purse. Since Japan uses change more than credit cards, I have soooo many coins. But I've found now that I can usually pick out the coins just fine now. At first I had no idea which is which.

Tomorrow Daniel has his orientation, so I'll be on my own for most of the day. Thinking about going shopping some more. I really need to find myself a school bag and some sandals that aren't flip flops.
